About Rachel

Rachel is a highly experienced practitioner, trainer and consultant working with a number of sectors supporting their safeguarding and child protection practices and procedures. Her career initially in childcare began over 30 years ago and she holds a number of professional qualifications including the NNEB, a BA Hons in Early Years and Education, PG Certificate in Management, and a post graduate qualification in leadership, NPQICL.

Rachel’s work in the social care, early years sector has involved the development of many services overtime, she has led and managed a variety of early years provisions, including a Sure Start Local Programme and numerous Children’s Centres and early years settings. Her role as a strategic lead in a Local Authority Early Intervention Service involved taking responsibilities for designated safeguarding lead across a wide range of services. She continues to work with Local Authorities delivering training and support for early years practitioners.

Rachel co-founded the Early Years Hub which provides training and consultancy for nurseries, pre-schools, childminders and out of school providers. She has been an early years inspector and still works closely with Ofsted in the context of her role as co-chair of the North West Ofsted Big Conversation.

Rachel has written a number of published articles on safeguarding and child protection and has spoken at national conferences and events on the subject also.
